PERSONALITY
an extrovert. chipper and loud, Tendou is enthusiastic, expressive and highly emotional. intuitive, he's especially good at following and picking up on subtle cues, physical or emotional, always confiding in his abilities and staying true to himself, his desires and his own well being. he loves attention, loves being on the top and proving his worth, and can end up royally pissed if he's bested. he could be sardonic, shown to provoke his opponents whenever he can as a psychological tactic to attack before being attacked— but he knows where to recognize talent and ability. Tendou's also one that often teases his friends, but all in good heart and meaning; he's fairly caring and supportive of peers despite his constant jokes and capricious, carefree demeanor.
HISTORY
born to an american father and a japanese mother, Tendou had a bit of a rough start into life since the beginning; his father, involved in criminal activity (went by the name "diablo"), used his mother at a young age to flee from authorities, never emotionally involving himself and leading to an abusive, destructive relationship. eventually being handed to police, a little after the boy was born. after his arrest and deportation, Tendou and his mother moved on to live much safer lives, but the peace would never really be the same.

Tendou suffered varying degrees of bullying since beginning his school days, the worst of it happening in middle school. a late bloomer, not only was he mocked and attacked for being 'quirkless', his odd appearance and overall demeanor, but because of his origins, tied with a villain and being called a villain himself. his ability finally activated after an attempt of beating him, and that itself sent the boys to the infirmary.

the look of falter and fear on the other boy's face had never made him smile so much. from that point on, most classmates were afraid of him. at least he never got picked on again, and as his confidence found footing and soared, so did some respect for him, too.

successfully graduating from UA high, Tendou went onto higher education, and finally finding a place of his own to fit into, after much rejection— A spot of apprenticeship under the wing of Undyne the Undying.

QUIRK
GUESS BLOCK is a damage reflection quirk, able to take and deflect damage received— close range attacks being the easiest to throw back at an opponent as opposed to long range attacks (the aim is horrible and would probably disperse). the importance of "guessing" falls into the block's activation: it'll be running and relying on Tendou's heightened sense of intuition and body reading. For this, I use an interactive roulette wheel to roll for success or failure, also removing an "alive" block after a success to widen the chances of a failure and keep things fair. the wheel is reset when a failure is rolled.

obs: the wheel isn't absolute, only a fun crutch to bounce off of— in situations where quirks or hits are much faster than his reaction time could be an automatic fail, the same way he could easily read someone with less fighting experience and block consistently with no problems. also, in situations where Tendou's confidence is hindered or where he's feeling threatened, the chance of failure is much larger (I'd say 50/50), and I'll use that accordingly, which is the reason why he uses this psychological tactic on his own opponents, heightening his chances of their failure and taking advantage of it. so, communication is the key, and I don't mind that.

In short: A correct reaction to a guess is capable of blocking and deflecting hits of a wide range of power levels; Tendou thinks and acts accordingly, a mental foresight being what sets his quirk into motion as a light blue lining around the area destined to be hit and deflect. a wrong reaction means a failed block; the quirk will shut down after gears don't click, and what would have been deflected is taken with bulk. the activation is momentary and can't be held for too long, so Tendou has to act quickly if he doesn't want to raise the chances of taking a hit. multiple attacks/attackers at once are also really hard to keep track of, lowering his success rate.

Tendou's quirk is a Russian roulette, a gamble and a double-edged sword that can go either way with a drop of a hat, either a really great defense, a quirky offense or the cause of his (and other's) downfall (which is why hardly anyone wants to team up with him hA). His costume would have to be something to help even more with his durability when he's vulnerable— Tendou is not all that bulky and his stature doesn't quite allow for tanking much. Not to say he's frail, but hits probably rattle him more than someone a bit . . . tankier?? ex: a sucker punch on bakugou could get him to stumble but on tendou it might knock him out.
